Remembering Dr. Martin Tobias

It is with much sadness that we share that Dr. Martin Tobias passed away last month. He joined Anna’s Bay Chorale in 2014 as Associate Director, working with Artistic Director Suzanne Montgomery. Martin was instrumental in the development of our concerts over the years, and was a driving force in our 2018 spring concert “Oh Rapture”, A Gilbert & Sullivan Review, due to his great enthusiasm for their music. Martin wrote the concert narrative and coordinating various aspects of the program with the Artistic Director, Dr. Jonathon Isham. In addition to conducting and singing in the chorale, Martin also participated in many of our community events. He taught us many wonderful techniques, sprinkled with anecdotes from his vast spectrum of experiences. Martin was an exceptional musician and generous with his time and humor during rehearsals and concerts. We will miss him greatly.

A memorial fund has been set up in Martin’s name and remembrances will be used to support our scholarship program, educational clinics, and other musical opportunities as part of our mission statement - Music That Builds Community. Remembrances may be made through our website or mailed to us at PO Box 913, Shelton, WA 98584.
